Youth group on nationwide tour to landmarks
“Ta’a al-Shabab” youth group recently completed a nationwide tour to various cultural landmarks using “Cultural Tourism” passports issued by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA).
The second in the series of tours took the group almost 24 hours to finish. The tour was aimed to create internal touristic activity attractive to residents in the Kingdom in harmony with the festival’s theme.
They travelled on public shuttle buses of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications with the purpose of encouraging the principle of public transportation and promoting the modern transport service of Bahrain
They expressed greatest delight at the great heritage embeded in Bahrain which they re-explored throughout their journey useing their "cultural touristic passports".
They also expressed gratitude and appreciation to Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, asserting that “our heritage is our genuine wealth” and that “a country that does not have a heritage, does not have tourism.”
On the first day, they toured various locations all over the country, beginning from the National Museum, Bu Maher Fort, the National Theatre, Bahrain Fort, Barbar temple, A’ali ancient historic mounds and graveyards.
On the second day, they toured Muharraq the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, starting from Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Culture and Research Centre, Isa bin Ali Home, Bin Mattar building, Al-Qaisariya Souq, Mohammed bin Faris auditorium and Hidaya Al-Khalidiya School.
They also visited Ibrahim Al-Arrayedh Poetry Home, Bait Khalaf, Bab Al-Bahrain, Bait Al Quran and Khamis Mosque.
Also, on the second day they visited Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Fort and finally the Tree of Life, all in all 21 cultural terminals using the symbolic passport that gets stamped at every stop and returned to its holder.
