His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday called for strengthening “accountability and responsibility” in government works for Bahrain to achieve its development goals under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Deputy King also highlighted the importance of upholding “Integrity, Honesty and professionalism” across government agencies to preserve public money and ensure the sustainability of resources.

His Royal Highness said this during a meeting with Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor-General of the National Audit Office, at Riffa Palace.

Shaikh Ahmed presented HRH Prince Salman with the 18th National Audit Office Annual Report 2020-2021.

The Crown Prince and Prime Minister told Shaikh Ahmed that nation-building is a continuous process that requires the determination and collaboration of all who keeps Bahrain’s interest above all else.

“We count on them to support the Kingdom’s development march by promoting correct practices in government work and control mechanism,” said HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

HRH Prince Salman also hailed the patriotic sense of the citizens of Bahrain, which had contributed to Bahrain’s gaining many achievements in its development drive.

Prince Salman also commended the role played by the Financial and Administrative Oversight Bureau in safeguarding public funds and furthering transparency and integrity across the public sector.

“The cooperation of all government agencies with the Office of Financial and Administrative Oversight contributed to achieving the desired goals,” said the Crown Prince, praising the keenness of authorities in implementing the administrative and financial systems.

HRH also called on authorities to implement the recommendations of the NAO report.

“Government agencies that received suggestions on administrative and financial non-compliance should take necessary measures to correct them and ensure they are not repeating them in future projects.”

Shaikh Ahmed told HRH Prince Salman about the authority’s commitment to achieving its goals by expanding its services to include forensic and digital auditing.

NAO’s audit covers various economic, social, health, and environmental sectors across the Kingdom.
