Car theft: appeal rejected

Manama

The High Criminal Court yesterday rejected an appeal by a man, who was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing an Indian expat’s car and upheld the initial verdict against him.

The incident had occurred on July 26, 2014, when the accused, along with another man reportedly drove away the vehicle after they unlocked the door and ignited the engine. It was parked in Manama area.

The car was discovered after nearly one and a half month in Bilad Al Qadeem, according to court files. But it was reportedly in a shabby condition, as the gearbox was broken, while the player, the battery, the spare wheel were robbed. Both the defendants were caught in connection with the robbery after police investigations, and were found guilty by the High Criminal Court earlier.

However, only one of them had appealed the court ruling, which got rejected by the court yesterday.
