Pakistanis ‘temporarily barred from entering Bahrain through Causeway’

The authorities at the King Fahad Causeway have informed us that a temporary ban prevents Pakistani nationals from entering the Kingdom through the causeway from Saudi Arabia, a few Pakistani sources confirmed.

Tribune tried to obtain information from the Pakistan Embassy officials, but efforts only ended in vain. “I know many Pakistani nationals could not meet their relatives in the Kingdom during Eid Al Adha because they were now allowed to enter through the causeway,” a Pakistani national told Tribune, on grounds of anonymity.

“I managed to enter Bahrain via the bridge on Wednesday and returned to Saudi Arabia on the same day. However, when I tried to return to Bahrain on Friday, I was prevented from entering the Kingdom.

“The reasons behind the ban are not clear to me or to other Pakistanis whom I know. “All that we have been informed by the Bahraini authorities at the bridge is that we are prohibited from entering Bahrain temporarily. Pakistanis expressed their surprise at the decision, while some confirmed that they had received a visa to enter Bahrain.
