Intex Lions, Awan Warriors grab victory at BPL semis

Manama : Intex Lions and Awan Warriors qualify for the finals of the first ever Coca-Cola Bahrain Premier League 2018 held in the Isa Town Cricket ground. In the first semifinals match between Awan Warriors and Bahrain Supergiants, Awan Warriors scored a sensational victory by 4 runs to secure their spot at the finals. In the second semi-finals of the day between Four Square Challengers and Intex Lions, Intex Lions chased the target of 135 set by Four Square Challengers to win with 7 wickets in hand. 2018 Coca-Cola Bahrain Premier League marked the first ever franchise based T-20 cricket hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The event was covered by the Bahrain TV and was available on YouTube streaming. The event was organised by KHK Sports and Exelon under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Mohammed Shahid, CEO of KHK Sports and Mohammad Mansoor, President of Bahrain Premier League congratulated both the teams and announced the finals to be set on 16th March 2018 at the Isa Town Cricket Ground.

Sets new record

Bahrain Premier League sets a new milestone with views crossing 187000 for the second semi-finals match between Four Square Challengers and Intex Lions. The event was one of the first T20 cricket matches that integrated fully functional online technology to stream online. The event received an overwhelming response from the expatriate communities and nations that play cricket including nations from the GCC, India, Pakistan, England, South Africa, Sri-Lanka and Australia. 

The event is the first cricket event hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to receive global attention. The initiative by KHK Sports and Exelon to develop the sport of cricket in the Kingdom of Bahrain was also appreciated by international celebrities, global cricket players and personalities from the media and film industry.
