BOC ready for Mini Olympics: Askar

ManamaGeneral Secretary the Bahrain Olympic Committee Abdulrahman Askar described the School Mini Olympics as one of the key programmes of the Bahrain Olympic Committee organized annually in compliance with the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and committee president, for the development of sports in Bahrain.

The Fifth School Mini Olympics is organized by the BOC in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and is scheduled to take place between March 8 and 22.

More than 2,000 students from government and private schools are taking part in this two-week event. Fourteen sports in total have been confirmed this year, including football, 3-on- 3 basketball, volleyball and handball.

The remaining activities are table tennis, athletics cricket, hockey, swimming, water sports, gymnastics, taekwondo, jiu-jitsu and karting.

Askar said the committee, with the assistance of the Education Ministry, will spare no efforts to make the fifth edition of the mini Olympics even more successful compared to the previous years.
