Emulate ‘GPIC model’

Manama Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel Humaidan yesterday called on other private sector institutions in the Kingdom to emulate GPIC model in improving Bahrainisation rates. 

The Minister, while visiting the headquarters of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, said that GPIC model has proven the outstanding ability of the Bahraini workforce to be creative and to spur the Kingdom’s economy and development process.

He further affirmed that the optimal investment in national human resources has entitled GPIC to be a leader in the Bahrainisation rate.

The minister also highlighted the vital role played by the petrochemical industries sector in boosting the economy of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council. 

The minister was holding a discussion with GPIC’s President, Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, executive management members Labour Union members, as well as senior officials.

The minister further said that the quality products manufactured and exported to major world markets  by GPIC have gained the Kingdom a distinguished reputation in this regard.

The two sides held a meeting during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between them in projects to develop the Bahraini workforce, in general, and GPIC’s workers, in particular.

Dr. Jawahery conveyed to the minister greetings from GPIC board members, and praised the crucial role played by the Labour and Social Development Ministry to develop the labour market in an unprecedented way through the monitoring of the enforcement of laws and legislation, which, he said, will reflect positively on the development process in the Kingdom.

The minister praised the distinguished relations between GPIC management and the representatives of its workers, which, he stressed, has reflected positively on the performance of the company and created a work environment that stimulates excellence, giving and increased productivity.
