GCC Maritime Cooperation

Bahrain chaired the 39th meeting of the GCC Committee of Port Authorities and Maritime Administrations as part of its presidency of the GCC’s 46th session. The meeting focused on strengthening Gulf logistics integration, developing port operations, addressing rising shipping and insurance costs, facilitating maritime movement and standardising licensing and inspection procedures.

Suspect Detained Over Posts  

The Public Prosecution ordered the pre-trial detention of a suspect and referred him to criminal trial over social media posts containing insults against revered Islamic symbols, which were deemed likely to incite strife and disturb social peace. The suspect reportedly admitted publishing the posts through a publicly accessible channel dedicated to jurisprudential and doctrinal matters, followed by around 950 people.

Search Continues for Two Missing at Sea

Coast Guard intensified search and rescue efforts for two people reported missing at sea near the border areas. Teams from the Maritime Operations and Rescue Centre supported by Police Aviation, are involved. The search operation remains ongoing as authorities continue efforts to locate the missing individuals.

Kingdom praises UAE mediation efforts

Bahrain welcomed the UAE’s successful mediation between Russia and Ukraine, which resulted in a new prisoner exchange involving 206 prisoners from both sides.

The Foreign Ministry praised the UAE’s diplomatic and humanitarian efforts and reiterated Bahrain’s support for initiatives aimed at ending the war, reducing its humanitarian impact and advancing peace and stability.

Heritage Through Art

Youth Affairs Minister Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi visited the Year of Isa Al Kabeer exhibition and competition at Youth City 2030, featuring 28 artworks inspired by Bahrain’s national heritage.

The minister praised the participating young artists, saying the exhibition provides an opportunity for youth to engage with national milestones and express their understanding of Bahrain’s history and heritage through contemporary art.

VAT Registration Process  

The National Bureau for Revenue has developed its VAT registration and data update service, allowing taxpayers to complete applications and update information electronically through streamlined procedures. The enhanced service covers new VAT registrations and updates to banking and financial information, while reducing application processing time from 30 working days to 21 working days.
