Bahrain, ESCWA explore labour market development
Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs Yusuf bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, received the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Dr. Rania Al-Mashat.
The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation between Bahrain and ESCWA and explored ways to benefit from successful experiences in developing labour and development policies, enhancing labour market efficiency and strengthening the partnership between the two sides.
Khalaf stressed the importance of exchanging expertise in labour market development and keeping pace with economic and technological changes, while developing skills and improving policies and programmes related to the employment and qualification of citizens.
He said such efforts contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
Dr. Al-Mashat, for her part, praised Bahrain’s progress in sustainable development and its continued efforts to launch and implement initiatives aimed at developing the labour market system.
