Filling their hearts with Eid joy

Manama : Senior citizens at the Muharraq Centre for Social Welfare had a wonderful day yesterday, as they shared the joy of Eid al-Fitr with Labour and Social development Minister, Jameel Humaidan. 

On the occasion, Eid gifts were presented by the minister to the inmates, filling their hearts with joy and happiness.  

Eid or Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the next month, Shawwal. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Arab countries declared Sunday as the first day of Eid al-Fitr, following the sighting of the moon by religious committees around the Gulf. 

Accompanying the minister  to the centre were members of the National Committee for the Elderly and Board members of the Muharraq Social Welfare Centre.  

The Minister exchanged cordial talks with them and got assured about their health and living conditions.

The minister, on the occasion, stressed government’s keenness on providing best services, as well as social, health, legal and rehabilitation programmes for the elderly, in cooperation with NGOs and private sector companies.

Humaidan stressed the need to enhance coordination and cooperation between the Labour and Social Development Ministry and the National Committee for the Elderly to develop elderly-oriented programmes, with the participation of the relevant government and private sector parties.
