Janahi, Rahman bag doubles win
Manama : Mahmood Janahi and Abdul Rahman Janahi had to work hard to overcome the challenge of Nalan Chokappal and Sundara Ram winning 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 in the second round-robin Group 2 matches in The Late Majid Al Zayani Cup - Super Doubles at the Bahrain Tennis Club Ramadan Tournament 2017 at its premises in Juffair.
In the other Group 2 match, Khalid Nass and Yousif Al Goud had a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ashraf Atabani and Ahmed Jaffar.
In Group 1 action, Ahmed Janahi and Salman Hassan ran out comfortable 6-1, 6-1 win over Ahmed Dhaif and Bassim Sarwani.
This tournament comprises two groups of round-robin matches with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals on June 11 and the final is set for June 13.
The other tournament being played is for The Late Yousif Khalil Al Moayyed Cup and comprises six doubles matches per round in the round-robin format with players divided into three groups.
After the conclusion of the three groups playing round-robin group matches, eight players advance to the quarter finals on June 7 with the top two from the three groups advancing along with the best third placed pairs in Group 1 and 2, the semi-finals are set for June 10 and the final match on June 18.
