BSME Headteachers meet begins

Manama : The 35th British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Annual Headteachers Conference began here yesterday.

The conference is being held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minster.

In the presence of Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of Injaz Bahrain and Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education, the Director General of the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa delivered the key note address at the conference.

In his remarks, the Director General noted that the BSME is a shining example of British-Bahraini and British-Middle East collaboration, stressing that it contributes to driving mutually beneficial development across the region.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa also welcomed the high levels of British-Bahraini cooperation widely apparent in Bahrain’s education sector today, through prominent institutions such as The British School, St. Christopher’s School, and the British College of Bahrain.

The Director General emphasised that educational development is enshrined in the National Action Charter and is a core pillar of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, and is supported by His Royal Highness’ commitment to increasing educational attainment across the country.

Speaking about the importance of developing education and training, he praised the efforts of the Supreme Council for Development of Education and Training presided over by His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister. HH Shaikh Mohamed underscored the important role the Supreme Council plays in developing strategies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s education sector in line with international best standards. 

Concluding his remarks, the Director General confirmed he was looking forward to hearing the innovative and fresh approaches that BSME members are applying in their schools around the Middle East, before finally reiterating Bahrain’s delight in welcoming the BSME Annual Headteachers Conference back to the Kingdom.

The BSME is an independent organisation which brings together over 100 member schools in the Middle East that use the British Curriculum.
