HRH Princess Sabeeka voices pride in BIGS' success

Manama : Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), has lauded the outstanding level of this year's Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS 2017), held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

BIGS is the fruitful outcome of the dedicated and extraordinary efforts undertaken by NIAD Secretary-General, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, to achieve NIAD's vision and goals to the fullest through developing well-thought round-the-year plans and executive programmes. 

The show, held on a yearly basis and tacking renewed topics that cater to the needs of the agricultural sector, embodies the results of those plans and programmes, HRH Princess Sabeeka said, adding that the success of the event in attracting specialised and diversified international and local participations that enjoy all the facilities provided by NIAD, in line with the directives of its secretary-general. 

HRH Princess Sabeeka added that the Secretary-General is supported by NIAD's work team comprising Bahraini experts and competencies who are a source of pride, and enjoy the high-level professional supervision of Shaikha Maram.

HRH Princess Sabeeka made the statements marking the conclusion of BIGS 2017 which was held between February 22 to 16 and attracted about 42,000 visitors. 

HRH Princess Sabeeka hailed participation of the ministries, official institutions, universities, private companies, businessmen, voluntary work teams and the civil society institutions. She lauded cooperation between NIAD and Bahrain Garden Club in backing the national efforts to promote agricultural work and develop experiences. 

HRH Princess Sabeeka praised active participation of Bahraini farmers, stressing the role of NIAD in supporting them and removing hardships. She lauded the high quality of Bahraini agricultural products which asserts efficacy of programmes and incentives by the relevant parties. She also expressed keenness on continuous support to national products to further boost their competitiveness and contribution to developing the agricultural sector.

HRH Princess Sabeeka pointed out the ministries' efforts assisted in achieving the set goals, welcoming the national media coverage that highlighted the show's content, objectives, along with the benefit desired from the agricultural development. 

she added the show accentuates the national contributions to reinforce the agricultural sector as a diversified source income for promoting the national economy in accordance with Bahrain vision 2030. 

HRH Princess Sabeeka concluded by stressing commitment to continue developing the agricultural sector and providing thoughtful visions based on scientific grounds to benefit various sectors. 

She concluded by extending appreciation and congratulations to the institutions and individuals winners of various categories.
