62 confiscations in a week
Manama
Customs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa announced yesterday the Customs Affairs has been issuing daily statistics on confiscations of the Air Exist Customs Directorate (GLS).
According to the statistics, 62 confiscations were reported in a week including duplicated, banned or unlicensed medicines and over 2000 pills and 1200 grams of powders.
He said the confiscations were part of an international week to fight the selling of duplicated and illegal medicines through internet and to enhance awareness of their risks on patients. It would also help track down illegal websites selling those medicines, he said.
The week’s activities were carried out by the police and customs authorities and national medicine regulatory agencies in member countries of the World Customs Organisation.
