Sonawane advance
Manama : Rushikesh Sonawane knocked out second seed Rohan Mukherjee 6-5 games in the quarter finals of the in the Unisex 9-10 years category in the Fifth E.K.Kanoo Junior Open Tennis Championship yesterday at the Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair.
In other matches of the category, Tristan Manners was a 6-0 winner over Marat Altair, Yousef Al Shahabi beat Eira Corral 6-1 and Aseem Khalid continued his brilliant run with a 6-4 win over Marwan Janahi.
In the quarter finals of the 6-8 years category, top seed Vyom Gupta was a 4-0 winner over Lucy Thate, Jenan Majeed was a 4-2 winner over Dhruv Karia, Ryaan Ahmed won 4-0 against Hamza Mouza 4-0 and Joshua Jacob also won 4-0against Omar Bader.
The championship has had more than 100 players in the fray playing in six age categories and is being held under the patronage of E.K.Kanoo Board Member and Director of Corporate Services, Talal Fuad Kanoo and concludes with the Boys Singles under-12 final between top seed Sparsh Parmar and Mathias Hopman at 5pm on January 19.
Today schedule: 4pm: 6-8 years category: Semi-finals.
