Hundreds participate in BOC event

Manama : A multi-event Sports Programme got underway on Wednesday at Dohat Arad walkway in Muharraq in the presence of hundreds of citizens and expatriates, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) as part of its annual plan to hold a string of sporting and social activities for the public.

The opening event of the programme was inaugurated by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar.

Askar, along with Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor, Muharraq deputy governor Zuhair Al Absi, Hassan Al Madani, Capital deputy governor Hassan Al Madani and other key officials, who led a large group of people in training sessions, conducted by a team of experienced training instructors. Representatives of the Ministry of Health were also present at a special booth to promote a healthy lifestyle, while Al Hilal Hospital contributed with free medical check-ups for the public.

Askar said he was pleased at the number of participants in the first event of the programme, which is in compliance to the directives of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President. He also noted the programme is one of the BOC’s plans to involve all segments of Bahrain society in various sports activities and spread the concept of adopting a healthy lifestyle among the community. 

The next activity on the calendar is at Al Fateh Corniche in Manama, Al Estiqlal Walkway in Sanad, Grand Khalifa Park in Riffa, Budaiya Walkway and A’ali Walkway on tomorrow from 4pm to 6pm.
