Shaikh Khalid participates in General Assembly

Manama : Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Second Deputy President of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) and President of Seventh Regional Group in the FEI has participated in the General Assembly meeting of the federation, held in Tokyo, Japan.

Joining Shaikh Khalid was Haider Al Zuabi, Technical Manager of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF).

Several key subjects were discussed in updating the general regulations of the FEI, especially those concerning the equestrian sport that cover endurance races, show jumping competitions and dressage.

Attendees pondered on the possibility of giving the current veterinary regulations a face-lift, while the equestrian sport regulations for the up-coming Olympic games in Tokyo in 2020 were approved, with revised regulations to come in effect starting from January 1, 2017.

Shaikh Khalid also attended the meetings of the Council and Executive Officer which were held on the sidelines of the FEI General Assembly meeting, which also included the Seventh Regional Group and the agenda included the approval of the previous meeting which was held in Puerto Rico on November 11, 2015.

The meeting also witnessed a presentation featuring the main achievements of the Arab federations during the year 2016.  They discussed a new proposal for the equestrian competitions in the Olympic Games and the World Equestrian Games as well as organising an Arab league for equestrian competition.
