Pending housing requests before 2003 to be cleared in a month

ManamaAll housing applications submitted before 2003 should be cleared within one month, as per orders issued by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday.

The PM also directed the Housing Ministry to distribute housing units across the Kingdom fairly. In this regard, the ministry was asked to increase the share of A’ali villagers in Al-Ramli Housing Project, and that of Damistan villagers in Al-Lawzi Housing Project.

The orders were issued while Prince Khalifa was following up on the work progress in housing projects and reviewing the efforts being exerted to meet applications on the waiting lists. The PM was chairing the regular weekly Cabinet session at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday, Secretary-General of the Cabinet Dr. Yasser bin Essa Al Naser said.

Addressing other development issues, the Premier urged to pay more attention to agriculture. The PM directed to develop agricultural policies, boost food industries, reduce wastage and encourage investment in manufacturing industries that are based on agricultural products.

Authorities were also asked to market and promote Bahraini agricultural products and crops, especially dates, to raise their added value. The Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure was requested to conduct a study on the matter.

The session also endorsed a proposal submitted by the Council of Representatives on removing the wooden cabin classrooms at the Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Boys’ School and the Al-Budaya Primary Boys’ School and to replace them with academic buildings. The classrooms will be included in the projects of the Education Ministry.
