Kuwait and Pakistan have signed a new defence and joint military cooperation agreement, strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah during a meeting in Islamabad.

The two ministers discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the defence and military sectors, as well as regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

Kuwait's Ministry of Defence described the agreement as an important milestone in bilateral military cooperation. The framework is expected to support greater operational coordination, exchange of expertise, military readiness and integration between the two countries' armed forces.

The discussions also focused on efforts to contribute to security and stability in the region while strengthening the strategic partnership between Kuwait and Pakistan.

The agreement comes as both countries seek to further develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest and enhance their ability to respond to evolving regional security challenges.
