Health Minister vows to ensure Zika-free Bahrain

Manama : The Health Ministry is committed to ensure a Zika-free Bahrain, said Minister of Health Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh yesterday.
Al Saleh said the ministry will intensify follow-up on the situation of the virus at the GCC and regional levels.
She said the government will step up communication with the relevant international organisations to ensure that Bahrain remains epidemic-free. The ministry would coordinate with the Supreme Council of Health in this regard, she said.
This comes after the weekly Cabinet session yesterday, wherein Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa directed the Health Ministry to take necessary precautions to control the potential outbreak of the disease in the Kingdom.
The Health Minister asserted that the Premier’s directives embodies the unwavering interest of the leadership in ensuring the safety and health of the citizens and residents, and make sure that the Kingdom remains epidemic-free. She reiterated the ministry’s commitment to implement the Royal directives to take precautionary measures to monitor Zika virus infection in the Kingdom.
She pointed out that the Ministry, represented by the General Health Directorate, had taken a number of preventive measures and was assured that the Kingdom was free of the mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

Spanish doctor visits SMC

Pediatric Orthopedic Consultant Surgeon Professor Norberto Miguel Ventura has visited Bahrain, it was announced.
As part of the visit, Professor Ventura conducted a lecture at the Salmaniya Medical Complex on the latest scientific breakthroughs in surgery and medical treatment.
He also examined 20 cases  here. It was also revealed that he plays a major role in examining Bahraini patients sent for treatment in Spanish hospitals. Thanking the doctor for his efforts, patients and their families, on the occasion,  hailed Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa for his directives to host medical experts from all over the
world.
