Al Khamis police station attack: appeal rejected

Manama: A court has rejected the appeals of four Bahrainis convicted of firebombing Al Khamis police station.

The defendants were earlier sentenced to 15 years in prison each after the High Criminal Court confirmed the charges against them.

The men were among 22 Bahraini suspects, who were tried in connection with the attack, which was carried out against Al Khamis police station on July 7, 2013.

Around 40 masked saboteurs took part in the assault, during which they poured the facility with Molotov cocktails intentionally to kill police officers and cause major damage to it.

Three surveillance towers as well a patrol car were damaged during the event, and experts estimated the losses at BD50.

All the defendants were convicted of arson, participating in an illegal gathering and possessing Molotov cocktails.
