HRH Visits Alba, Praises National Workforce and Global Growth
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy King, visited Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), where he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the company’s national workforce.
During the visit, His Royal Highness praised the dedication of Alba’s national employees in maintaining production and supporting the company’s position within the global aluminium industry.
Established in 1971, Alba has maintained continuous production for 55 years, developing into a leading Bahraini industrial enterprise and the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter.
His Royal Highness highlighted Alba’s continued expansion and development, noting its contribution to Bahrain’s comprehensive development and the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen its industrial sector and human capital.
He also expressed pride in the achievements of Alba’s employees, including the company’s milestone of recording 50 million safe working hours. During the visit, he reviewed operations across the production lines and the company’s ongoing development projects.
His Royal Highness also met with Alba’s Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, along with members of the company’s national workforce, and praised their commitment and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities amid various challenges.
The Deputy King welcomed Alba’s recent acquisition of Aluminium Dunkerque, described as the largest aluminium smelter in the European Union. He noted that the acquisition supports Alba’s ambition to build a global low-carbon aluminium platform, strengthen its international market presence and expand its capacity for sustainable growth.
Aluminium Dunkerque’s advanced automation, integrated production capabilities and skilled workforce were highlighted as strengths that could support the company in meeting growing European demand for sustainably produced aluminium.
Khalid Al Rumaihi, Chairman of Alba, expressed appreciation for His Majesty the King’s recognition of the company’s employees and for His Royal Highness’s visit and review of Alba’s programmes and plans.
He said the Deputy King’s recognition of the national workforce provides motivation for employees to continue developing the company and working towards its future goals.
