Man’s plea rejected in murder case
Manama: A man convicted of murder has lost his appeal after failing to attend the verdict session. The Bahraini man was earlier sentenced in absentia to three years in prison for punching a compatriot following a row in Hoora.
It was learnt that the wife of the victim told him that the defendant had beaten up their son. An irate victim, aged 58, went out of the house in search of the defendant.
The two men had a verbal argument near a local mosque over the matter and it snowballed into a physical altercation. The victim had heart-related ailments and he collapsed on the ground after being punched by defendant on the chest.
Unaware of his death, the defendant reportedly went to the police station to lodge a complaint. However, he was arrested by police officers, who received information about the fight, which led to the victim’s death.
