Bahraini woman sentenced for attacking police
Manama: The Supreme Appeals Court yesterday reduced the jail term of a Bahraini appellant convicted of assaulting two policewomen to six months.
She was earlier handed down one year behind bars for the crime.
The defendant was arrested in her attempt to ram her car into a police checkpoint. Though the two policewomen tried to drag
her into a police patrol, she attacked them with her bare hands, causing injuries to both of them.
“She refused to enter the vehicle and sat on the ground. We tried to convince her to abide by the orders, but she refused. She suddenly attacked us with her hands,” one of the policewomen told prosecutors. The woman had been charged with attacking on duty police officers.
