Company's monopoly in billboard advertising questioned
A Bahrain MP has questioned the transparency of billboards advertising contracts systems in the kingdom.
Why was one foreign company always getting the tender, while there were 1300 similar companies in the country that are capable of doing the same job, asked MP Nasser Al Qaseer.
He was speaking to DT News yesterday after the third meeting of the Investigative Committee in Parliament.
He said they had received the answers from the Ministers and were now waiting for more details. “At this stage, we need more details about the contract the government was signing with the tender board committee,” he said.
“It is unfair that in the presence of 1,300 companies, only one company takes the tenders,” Al Qaseer said, adding, “We hope to change the rules so that other companies could benefit from the new rules.”
“We will also ask for the original contract,” he added.
Local Bahraini companies had registered complaints against the transparency of the systems of the billboards advertising contracts.
In response to their complaints, an investigative committee was formed in the parliament, which is reviewing all the aspects of the matter. The investigative committee consists of Jamal Bu Hassan (Chairman), Adel Hameed (Deputy Chairman), Mohammed Al Maarfi, Nasser Al Qaseer, Abdulrehman Buali, Fatima Al Asfoor, Hamad Al Dossari and Osama AlKadhem.
