Foreign Minister Receives UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary
Zayani and Rania Al-Mashat discuss strengthening cooperation on sustainable development and regional economic integration
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani received Dr. Rania Abdel Moneim Al-Mashat, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), at the ministry today.
Al Zayani welcomed Al-Mashat and congratulated her on her new UN position, commending ESCWA’s efforts to support sustainable development and economic integration across the Arab region.
The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation between Bahrain and ESCWA and ways to further develop them in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The two sides also discussed ESCWA’s role in supporting economic and social development across the region and strengthening cooperation and coordination between Arab countries and relevant international institutions.
The meeting was attended by Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Organisations Sector.
