Renewed Focus On Youth Empowerment
Leaders and officials highlight trust, skills development and greater opportunities for young people to shape the Kingdom’s future
Bahrain is marking International Youth Day with a renewed emphasis on empowering young people, developing their skills and giving them a greater role in shaping the Kingdom’s future.
Senior officials and youth leaders highlighted the importance of trust, participation, innovation and practical experience, stressing that investment in young people remains central to Bahrain’s development efforts.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, said young people should be viewed as partners in shaping the future rather than simply recipients of decisions.
In a statement marking International Youth Day, observed today HH Shaikh Nasser said young people do not wait for others to chart their path, but look to those who believe in their ability to create their own future.
He stressed that trust in young people is the foundation for future achievements, noting that countries that empower youth to take initiative can build stronger and more sustainable futures.
HH Shaikh Nasser said Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, had adopted a national approach that places young people at the heart of decision-making and future planning.
He added that the approach has received the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, strengthening national efforts to create an environment where young people can participate, assume responsibility and contribute to development.
He said genuine investment in youth means ensuring that young people feel heard, their ideas are valued and the responsibilities entrusted to them correspond with the opportunities available to them.
Partners in national achievements
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, described International Youth Day as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Bahraini youth across different fields.
He said young Bahrainis have demonstrated their ability to innovate, create and assume responsibility, becoming an exemplary presence across various sectors.
He stressed that the accomplishments of young Bahrainis reflect the Kingdom’s national talent and demonstrate the success of efforts to empower young people and provide them with opportunities to excel and innovate.
