Bahrain launches first unified remote customer service centre
Bahrain's Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has launched the Kingdom's first unified remote customer service centre for municipal services, aimed at streamlining access to services and improving the overall customer experience.
The new centre provides a single point of contact for residents to report emergencies, inquire about licences, fees, records and addresses, track applications, submit complaints and feedback, and receive technical support for building permit systems and other municipal platforms.
Instead of visiting municipal offices or contacting each municipality separately, customers can now access services through multiple channels, including phone calls, WhatsApp, video appointments and email, helping simplify procedures and speed up response times.
Single Contact Point
Unified hotline introduced for all municipalities
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak said the initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to adopting innovative digital solutions and modernising municipal services to improve efficiency and service quality.
He said the unified customer service number 17989898 will serve as a central contact point for all municipalities, allowing residents to communicate by telephone, WhatsApp, video appointments through the "Mawaeed" application, and email. The service will be supported by trained national staff using advanced operating systems and technology to ensure faster responses to requests, reports and enquiries.
Government Service Reform
More than 1,300 services documented under digital transformation
The ministry said the initiative forms part of Bahrain's wider government programme to improve and redesign public services.
As part of these efforts, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, while 800 services have been redesigned and enhanced across government sectors.
The improvements were based on feedback received through the national Tawasul suggestions and complaints system, investor feedback, and secret shopper service assessments. The government has also introduced service guides and service level agreements to improve efficiency, enhance service quality and strengthen Bahrain's ongoing digital transformation.
