Bahrain participants to attend ‘Gulfood’ fiesta

Participants in the Bahraini National Pavilion at the “Gulfood” exhibition that takes place from February 21 to 25 at the Dubai World Trade Centre stressed the importance of promotion of Bahrain food product to regional markets, thereby contributing to a competitive Bahraini food industry to promote and increase its contribution to the National output and diversify sources of income and achieve food security in Bahrain.

During a meeting at the Gulf Hotel, participants noted that the industry food products in Bahrain were popular regionally as a result of their quality, and the keenness of those who make it in using the finest raw materials and the latest scientific methods of production, packaging and storage.

However, they also noted that there were many challenges facing this industry, such as the compete with foreign products, and delayed measures to transfer the products across the King Fahd Causeway, especially perishable products.

This meeting set up by “Work Smart”, the organisers of the Bahraini pavilion at the largest annual exhibition of food and hospitality in the world “Gulfood” for the third consecutive year.

The meeting attended by representatives of the participating companies in the Bahrain Pavilion: Trafco Group, Alkabaely for Food Industry, Awal Dairy, Chocolate and Co, Deeko Bahrain, Mak for Food Industry and the Food Supply Company.

WorkSmart explained that Bahraini companies were taking part in the 20th edition of the exhibition along with nearly 2,500 companies involved in the industry and commercial activities in the field of manufacturing and trading of food and hospitality from various countries of the world. “Gulfood in its 20th edition has become the largest annual event for food trade and hospitality in the world, and the largest trade fair in the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia especially with the growing demands from the industry, supply and processing of global food companies,” the company pointed out.

It is worth mentioning that the Senior Vice President at Dubai World Trade Centre, Trixie LohMirmand, said in an earlier statement that the Middle East was  considered as a major growth area for the sectors of packaging and food industry. The exhibition, she said, is an ideal platform for the food industry to the suppliers of equipment and logistics that establishes to work and invest in a more global growing markets.
