Two MPs will take part in talks in Cairo this week before a meeting of Arab parliament heads on attacks on Arab state sovereignty, the Palestinian issue and digital privacy.
Dr Hisham Al Ashiri, a member of the Arab Parliament, and MP Mohsin Al Asbool will represent Bahrain’s Council of Representatives at the preparatory committee for the eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and heads of Arab councils and parliaments.
The committee meets in the Egyptian capital on June 24 and 25 to review draft outcomes ahead of the conference, which will be held on Saturday, June 27, at the Arab League headquarters.
Bahrain’s delegation to the conference will be led by Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, with heads and speakers of Arab councils and parliaments due to attend.
The conference is being held by the Arab Parliament and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Delegates are due to discuss a draft resolution on forging a single Arab parliamentary stance towards attacks on the sovereignty, security and stability of Arab states.
They will also consider a draft resolution on Israeli policies aimed at ending the Palestinian cause, and on strengthening Arab parliamentary support for the lawful rights of the Palestinian people.
A parliamentary vision on ‘Arab digital sovereignty and the protection of national privacy in the age of digital change’ will also be launched.
