Public Prosecution Enforces Midday Work Ban to Protect Workers

The Public Prosecution has confirmed that the midday work ban will be enforced in outdoor areas exposed to direct sunlight, effective annually from June 15 to August 31, as part of efforts to enhance worker protection and safeguard their health during the summer season.

The Public Prosecution clarified that the ban applies daily from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., covering all work carried out in exposed outdoor locations under direct sunlight, in order to reduce health risks associated with high temperatures and heat stress.

It stressed that violations of the decision will result in legal accountability, with penalties of up to three months’ imprisonment, a fine ranging from 500 to 1,000 Bahraini dinars, or either penalty.

The authority noted that the decision is based on Resolution No. (5) of 2026 regulating the midday work ban during the summer season, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (36) of 2012 promulgating the Labour Law in the private sector.

The Public Prosecution called on employers and institutions to fully comply with the applicable regulations and requirements, and to take the necessary measures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, contributing to the protection and well-being of workers.
