Emirates has become the first airline in the world to introduce a comprehensive travel insurance product that includes medical cover for conflict-related incidents, alongside a wide range of travel disruption benefits and airline-managed customer support.
The new Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover, developed in partnership with Travel Guard, provides travellers with enhanced protection from the moment they book their journey. The insurance package combines traditional travel cover with additional support measures designed to assist passengers during unexpected disruptions.
Under the new offering, customers are covered for trip cancellations, baggage delays or loss, unlimited medical expenses, and emergency evacuation worldwide. A key addition is conflict-related medical cover, which provides reimbursement of up to US$25,000 for medical expenses and includes a complimentary trip extension of up to 30 days if required.
The insurance cover is not restricted by government travel advisories, providing broader protection for travellers across various destinations.
Emirates has also introduced additional customer support measures during travel disruptions. In cases where flights are cancelled due to conflict-related events or airspace closures, the airline will provide hotel accommodation and extended-stay support. If Emirates services are unavailable or itineraries involve connections with other airlines, affected passengers will be rebooked to their final destination at no additional cost.
The initiative builds on Emirates’ existing customer-focused policies, including free ticket date changes for eligible bookings and the airline’s "Hold My Fare" option, which allows customers to reserve fares for up to 24 hours without charge.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said the new product was developed in response to customer feedback and growing demand for more comprehensive travel protection.
"Travel demand remains strong, but we identified a gap in the market regarding travel insurance coverage. Together with Travel Guard, we are pleased to offer an enhanced insurance product that provides reassurance and protection across a wider range of situations. As summer travel demand increases, this gives customers greater confidence when planning journeys to and through Dubai," he said.
Russel Antonio, Head of Global Business & Partnerships at Travel Guard, said the enhanced product reflects the long-standing collaboration between the two organisations.
"By combining our strengths once again, this comprehensive travel product offers enhanced protection that sets a new benchmark in the industry and responds to the evolving needs of today’s travellers," he said.
The Emirates Comprehensive Travel Cover is available from today and can be purchased during the booking process through Emirates’ website or added to existing bookings through the airline’s Manage Booking service.
