Women’s National Role Strengthened Over 25 Years
Bahrain is marking the silver jubilee of the Supreme Council for Women's establishment, with senior officials highlighting Bahraini women's achievements and their growing role in national development over the past 25 years.
Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amena bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi said the anniversary represents a national occasion to recognise the qualitative gains achieved by Bahraini women and their active participation across different fields.
She said women have become an integral partner in Bahrain’s development, benefiting from an environment that promotes equal opportunities, innovation and professional excellence.
Al Rumaihi also praised Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women, for supporting women’s advancement and establishing an institutional framework to strengthen their participation.
Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak said the past 25 years witnessed continued progress for Bahraini women, supported by national policies and expanded opportunities across different sectors.
He highlighted women’s contributions to the municipal and agricultural sectors, noting their growing presence in positions of responsibility and their role in improving services and development projects.
Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for the Environment, said the silver jubilee reflects 25 years of achievements that have strengthened the position of Bahraini women in national work.
She highlighted the contributions of women at the Supreme Council for the Environment in scientific, technical and administrative fields, including environmental policy and natural resource protection.
Minister of Oil and Environment Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina said the Supreme Council for Women established an institutional approach that strengthened women’s opportunities and contributions.
He praised the role of Bahraini women in the oil, environment and climate sectors, stressing their contribution to protecting national resources and supporting a sustainable future.
Officials also noted that the silver jubilee coincides with the “Year of Isa the Great,” linking the occasion to Bahrain’s longstanding approach to institution-building and national development.
