131 Services Get a Digital Makeover

Bahrain has developed 131 government services across 22 government entities between January 15 and August 13, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to improve service quality, streamline procedures and enhance the experience of beneficiaries.

The latest upgrades included digitising applications to purchase chemicals from the local market, including refrigerant gases, restricted materials and substances covered by the Chemical Weapons Convention.

The government also simplified the process for submitting applications to register a trademark or service mark in a single category.

Other upgraded services included updating data for social programme beneficiaries through the National Portal, registering or updating Value Added Tax (VAT) information with a shorter processing time, and allowing jobseekers to electronically request a postponement of a scheduled job interview.

The improvements resulted in 100 percent digitization of the services, a reduction of at least 25 percent in service-level agreement periods, and a maximum of four steps for applications.

The programme also reduced required documents by 50 percent, cut the number of pages needed to access services by 50 percent, and reduced the number of required approvals by 25 percent.

Further improvements included upgrading user interfaces and experiences, converting application forms into electronic forms and standardising service information across government channels.

These measures aim to further improve the efficiency of government services and make them easier for beneficiaries to access.
