Manama: A nurse found guilty of exploiting a paralysed patient and stealing BD 25,750 through illegal online banking transactions and received a sentence of up to 10 years in jail by a Bahraini appeals court.
The High Criminal Court of Appeal also imposed a BD 5,000 fine and ordered the nurse’s deportation after completion of her sentence.

The nurse was deported and fined BD 5,000 by the High Criminal Court of Appeal after completing her sentence.
According to the prosecution, the accused stole the victim's phone and used the digital payment system linked to his bank account to make fraudulent payments. Investigators say that the stolen funds were initially transferred to the nurse's local bank account before being transferred to her native Asian nation.

Also, they stated that the nurse executed the payments by entering fake information into the payment system and using the victim's electronic verification number to access and approve the transactions.

The issue came out in 2025 after the victim's son informed the authorities upon spotting multiple significant transactions from his father's account in September and October.

The entire amount taken, according to the prosecution, was BD 25,750, however BD 3,500 was eventually returned.
