15-10 years’ jail for 14 men in rape case
Fourteen Bahraini men, accused of gangraping an Asian woman, have been handed down heavy jail terms.
Five of the suspects were given 15 years behind bars each, while the rest received 10 years imprisonment.
The Thai woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by the men in three different locations, including inside a vehicle in less than 24 hours on January 30 this year. Some of her possessions were also robbed by the defendants.
According to court files, the victim was initially abducted by the first and the second defendants while she was heading to her Juffair home. “I was walking alone in Juffair when two men approached me. They offered to have sex with me and I refused, and suddenly they forcefully dragged me inside the car,” the victim said in her statement.
