Bahrain, Belgium Discuss Security and Trade Cooperation

The Belgian Minister of Defence and Foreign Trade, Theo Francken, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Belgium, Dr. Mohammed Ali Bahzad, in Brussels, where both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across security and trade sectors, alongside reviewing the latest regional and international developments.

During the meeting, the Bahraini Ambassador expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s appreciation for Belgium’s supportive positions and its solidarity with Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states amid recent Iranian attacks targeting the region.

The Ambassador emphasized that the consequences of such attacks extend beyond the regional framework, posing broader risks to global economic stability and international security. He also highlighted the seriousness of any threat to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, warning of its significant impact on global energy security, supply chains, and international maritime trade routes.

Both sides discussed enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries and reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and partnership in support of regional and global peace and stability.
