Bahrain FM Meets UN Chief in New York to Discuss Regional Security and Global Stability
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York during his visit to participate in the Security Council meetings held under Bahrain’s presidency for April.
The meeting was attended by Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Ambassador Mohamed Issa Abushahab, UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, along with accompanying delegations.
Discussions focused on recent regional developments, including the implications of Iranian attacks on GCC and other Arab countries, and their impact on regional security and stability. The talks also addressed concerns over the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its consequences for international maritime navigation.
Both sides further reviewed the United Nations’ ongoing efforts to تعزيز global peace and security, support sustainable development, advance humanitarian initiatives, and facilitate conflict resolution worldwide.
