As Eid approaches and people fill markets across Bahrain, inspection teams have stepped up their presence, moving quietly between shops to ensure everything remains fair, safe and stable.
Abdulaziz Al Ashraf, Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said inspection campaigns have been intensified across all governorates in response to seasonal demand and current regional developments.
He explained that these efforts, carried out in cooperation with the private sector, focus on monitoring goods, ensuring price stability and verifying that businesses comply with regulations.
Beyond enforcement, he said, the aim is to strengthen trust between traders and consumers during one of the busiest times of the year.
Inspection plans have been tailored for the pre Eid period, covering key activities linked to the season.
Teams have been visiting fruit and vegetable shops, salons, tailoring outlets, bakeries, sweet shops, restaurants and catering kitchens, as well as malls and commercial centres.
In each stop, there is more than routine checking, there is an effort to keep the rhythm of the market steady as families prepare for celebration.
Al Ashraf noted that inspections focus on tracking market conditions and ensuring the smooth flow of goods, while closely monitoring sales practices, discounts and promotional offers.
He stressed the importance of clear pricing and warned against misleading offers or unjustified price increases, confirming that legal action will be taken against violations.
The intensified campaigns, he said, reflect the ministry’s commitment to maintaining a fair and balanced commercial environment that protects consumers and reinforces discipline in the market.
