Cyber Child Protection Unit Urges Parents to Monitor Children’s Online Activity Amid Current Tensions

The Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace at the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption and Economic & Electronic Security has urged parents to closely monitor their children when using smart devices and digital applications. The move aims to ensure children’s safety and protect them from online risks, in line with the Ministry of the Interior’s ongoing efforts to promote community security and the safe use of modern technologies.

The unit highlighted several key guidelines for children, including refraining from sharing or reposting news, images, or videos related to current events. Children are also urged not to respond to calls for gatherings that violate public order, or to record military movements or attacks, as such actions could have serious legal and security consequences.

Parents were also advised to educate their children about avoiding contact with strangers on social media or electronic apps, protecting personal data and location information, and refraining from posting offensive or illegal comments online.

The unit stressed the importance of immediately reporting to parents any content or communications that may cause fear or concern for the child, ensuring that these situations are handled promptly and safely.

Continuous parental supervision was emphasized, along with educating children about the dangers of social media apps and other websites, verifying the safety of the content they access, and guiding them on proper actions if they face threats or risks online.

Parents are encouraged to contact the Child Protection Unit if they suspect any activity that may endanger children, either by visiting in person, calling 33523300, or emailing cpcu@interior.gov.bh
, using the hotline 992, or through the “MyGov” app.
