Young parliamentarians conclude fruitful UK visit

The delegation of the eighth edition of the Young Parliamentarian Program has concluded its official visit to the United Kingdom, which aimed to enhance diplomatic and parliamentary awareness and strengthen concepts of community engagement among youth.

During the visit, the delegation met with His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, where participants were briefed on the Embassy’s responsibilities and the key priorities of Bahraini diplomatic work in the United Kingdom.

Discussions also covered the role of youth in contributing to policymaking and building bridges of dialogue and cooperation between nations.

The delegation also met with Mr. Mark Sims, Chief Executive of Rugby Portobello Trust and P3 Charities, as well as a board member of the Charity Commission.

Discussions focused on sustainable community work models, best practices in managing non-profit organisations, and the role of civil society organisations in supporting various segments of the community.

Support

As part of the programme, the delegation met with Ms. Jane Emerson, Chief Executive of Get Kids Going!, an organisation specialising in supporting children and young people with disabilities through sport and physical activity.

Participants were introduced to pioneering experiences in social inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities.

The delegation also met with leadership representatives from One Million Mentors, an organisation dedicated to connecting young people with volunteer mentors through one-to-one mentoring programmes that support their academic and professional development.

Additionally, meetings were held with representatives of The Adam Foundation, which focuses on developmental and awareness programmes aimed at building youth capacities and enhancing their skills.
