Government urges stronger public and private partnerships in the food supply

During a visit to the General Poultry Company, the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture, His Excellency Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, reaffirmed that strengthening local production remains a firm national priority to support food security in Bahrain.
He emphasized the importance of continuously developing national productive sectors and improving their efficiency to increase self-sufficiency levels, ensure the sustainable availability of food supplies, and enhance the Kingdom’s strategic reserves.
The remarks came during his visit to the company in the presence of the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Resources, Asem Abdul Latif Abdullah. The minister was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Poultry Company, Sami Mohammed Zainal, along with board members.
Commitment
Al Mubarak highlighted the ministry’s commitment to closely following the progress of national food sector companies and enabling their expansion and growth by providing necessary facilitation. He stressed that the private sector is a key partner in implementing Bahrain’s national food security strategy.
He also underlined the importance of coordination between government entities and the private sector, particularly at the current stage, to boost local production, diversify food sources, and ensure a stable and high-quality supply in local markets.
