“Can I donate my hair to make them happy and get their blessings?” said six-year-old Aisha Mateen Karam, whose heartwarming decision turned her record-length hair into a gift of hope for cancer patients.

At just six years old, Aisha has transformed a personal milestone into an inspiring act of compassion.

Known for holding a record for the longest hair in Bahrain, she chose to donate it to support cancer patients, turning a symbol of beauty into one of hope.

“After seeing how cancer patients, especially children and women, lose their hair during treatment, I felt a deep urge to do something meaningful,” said Aisha’s mother.

Emotional

“Hair is so special to many of us, and for them, losing it is not just physical but emotional. When I read about the initiatives supported by Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa encouraging support for cancer patients, I wanted to be part of this noble cause. And when we sought permission from her father, he was overjoyed to know that this habit of humanity has been transferred to his generation.”

For six years, Aisha’s hair was carefully protected.

She cherished it deeply and never allowed it to be cut, even making a record for the longest hair in the country.

Innocence

Her mother recalled, “Everything changed the day she saw a child without hair and asked why. When I explained that cancer patients lose their hair because of treatment, she immediately said in her innocence, ‘Can I donate my hair to make them happy and get their blessings?’”

That moment revealed a maturity and kindness beyond her age.

“Helping others means sharing something that is precious to us, not just giving away what is extra. That is what makes it truly special,” her mother added.

Kindness

As a parent, she hopes to raise Aisha with compassion, empathy, and a spirit of giving — not only in monetary ways but in kindness and humanity.

“I am incredibly proud of her. Seeing her let go of something she loved so much for the sake of others made me emotional,” she said.

Aisha’s story has already begun to inspire others.

Journey

“Just after seeing Aisha’s experience, two of my friends are planning to donate as well. This journey has taught us that kindness and compassion have no age limit. When it comes from the heart, it can inspire an entire community,” her mother explained.

To all the cancer warriors, Aisha and her family send a heartfelt message: stay strong, stay positive, and know that you are supported and prayed for.
