Court appeal filed in stolen bank card and phone purchase case

The First High Criminal Court of Appeal has set February 22 to appoint a lawyer for one of the appellants, after the Court of First Instance sentenced a man and a domestic worker to three years in prison and fined each of them BD3,000.
The court also ordered their permanent deportation after serving the sentence, following their conviction for stealing a bank card and withdrawing nearly BD300. According to case details, the two defendants agreed to steal the victim’s bank card and PIN number.
Defendant The domestic worker took the card from a drawer inside the house and handed it to the first defendant.
He later used the card at a shopping mall to purchase an iPhone 16 worth BD294.900 by entering the PIN code to complete the transaction.
After the crime was discovered and he was summoned to the police station, he destroyed the phone and disposed of the bank card.
The incident came to light when the victim’s grandson noticed a significant drop in her bank balance.

After contacting the bank, it was confirmed that the card had been used to buy a mobile phone.
The phone number linked to the purchase led to the female defendant, and the case was reported to the authorities.
The Public Prosecution charged the first defendant with unlawfully using the victim’s electronic signature (PIN) to fraudulently obtain money through a technological means.
