Sports Channel Win Media Futsal Title
Bahrain Sports Channel beat Al Ayam 2-1 on Saturday to win the Sports Media Futsal Championship after a hard-fought final at the Bahrain Football Association hall.
The title capped a strong run by the Sports Channel side, who had beaten the Bahrain Football Association media team 2-0 in the semi-finals.
Al Ayam reached the final with a 3-1 win over the News Centre in the other last-four tie.
The championship was organised by the Sports Media Committee of the Bahrain Journalists Association and brought together teams from media outlets and sports bodies across Bahrain.
Bahrain Journalists Association chairman Issa Al Shaiji said the tournament had met its aims by drawing media and sports workers closer together.
He said such events gave staff from different organisations a chance to build links beyond the workplace, with sport offering common ground for teamwork and stronger professional ties.
Al Shaiji said the association also wanted its events to give journalists and sports staff room to meet away from the pressures of work, exchange experience and discover sporting talent within the media field.
He praised the standard shown by the teams and the sporting conduct seen throughout the matches, saying the response to the tournament would encourage the association to hold similar events for Bahrain’s press and media community.
