Dreams Without Limits
Sara Khalid Ali and Ahmed Hussain Al Hoori are the latest students highlighted in the Education Ministry’s “Our Students, Inspiring Stories” campaign, which showcases pupils who have overcome challenges and achieved success in education and beyond.
Sara began secondary school at Al Ahd Al Zaher Secondary Girls School with a cumulative average of 80 and hoped to join the science and mathematics track. She was advised that other options might be more suitable for her.
By her third level, however, she had raised her average to 91.8.
She then began sharing what she had learned with other students. Drawing on her own experience of finding some subjects difficult, she created a study account where she explains lessons, prepares revision summaries and posts practice questions across different subjects.
The account has attracted more than 400 followers from inside and outside the school. Sara also responds to questions from fellow students as they prepare for examinations. Her school has highlighted her achievement on its boards displaying students’ accomplishments.
Ahmed, meanwhile, has learned to balance his studies with managing type 1 diabetes, including organising his insulin doses and monitoring his carbohydrate intake while travelling.
Despite fluctuations in his blood sugar levels, he continued attending classes and pursuing academic and extracurricular opportunities.
He successfully passed the competitive stages of the Dream Programme organised by the Molhimoon Authority under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and was selected for Bahrain’s official delegation to a world scientific conference in Abu Dhabi, which brought together participants from more than 50 countries.
Ahmed presented his science project at the conference, where the Bahraini delegation won the award for best cultural corner.
His achievements also include attending the Misk Global Forum in Riyadh, completing the Bahrain Debate Centre’s debater training programme, joining the national debate team and finishing second in Bahrain in the Arab Reading Challenge after three years of participation.
He now leads volunteers with the Golden Inspirer team.
To support his participation in international events, Ahmed’s school arranged his lessons and examinations around his overseas trips.
The stories of Sara and Ahmed highlight different paths to achievement, with both students turning personal challenges and opportunities into motivation to succeed and support others.
