Historic Isa Al-Kabeer Mosque Reopens

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of the King, officially opened the Isa Al-Kabeer Mosque in Muharraq. The ceremony was attended by Their Highnesses, Ministers, senior officials, distinguished guests, and prominent religious leaders.

At the start of the event, Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa unveiled the mosque and conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He highlighted the King’s pride in restoring Isa Al-Kabeer Mosque, emphasizing its historical and cultural significance and its connection to Bahrain’s founding generations. The restoration reflects His Majesty’s commitment to Islam’s peaceful message and his dedication to building houses of worship, which play a central role in promoting moral values, nurturing righteous citizens, strengthening national unity, and fostering social cohesion.

Shaikh Abdullah also noted that the inauguration coincides with the Royal decree naming this year “The Year of Isa Al-Kabeer,” honoring Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the founder of modern Bahrain and a leader in the nation’s institutional renaissance. The mosque is intended to serve as a beacon of knowledge, linking educational and cultural centers both within Bahrain and abroad.

He stressed that mosques are vital in shaping a balanced Muslim character, providing essential religious, social, and educational guidance. Shaikh Abdullah further praised the strong support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Government, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for creating an environment that fosters the construction and development of houses of worship.
