Nearly 200 members, families, and friends attended a memorable desert camping activity organized by the Filipino American Association of Bahrain (Fil-Am Bahrain) on 6 February 2020 at Hamala Camp Al Sakhir.

The event was held in partnership with the Travelers Tribe Masonic Club Bahrain (T2) and Tri-Step Lodge No. 99.

The theme of the camp, “Three Forces. One Direction,” symbolized the unity and collaboration among the three distinct groups or “forces” coming together to move toward a common goal.

According to Madz Y. Despi, Vice President for External Affairs of Fil-Am Bahrain, “Each ‘force’ represents a team, tribe, or community participating in the camp, and the theme emphasizes teamwork, partnership, and shared purpose.”

“The theme was reflected throughout the program, from shared activities to cooperative games and group performances,” she further explained.

Set against the serene desert landscape and accompanied by cool, breezy winds, the gathering showcased the strong bond of friendship, unity, and cooperation that these organizations continue to nurture among their members.

A warm bonfire was lit during the evening, perfectly complementing the cold weather and providing a cozy setting where participants gathered to share stories, laughter, and fellowship.

The event was facilitated by Joselito Sarmiento, Vice President for Internal Affairs of Fil-Am Bahrain, who served as the emcee while participating alongside his family, with the program formally commencing with a solemn prayer led by Ms. Despi.

In his message, Fil-Am Bahrain President Orlando O. Fontanilla expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, organizers, and partner organizations for their active involvement and continued support, emphasizing the importance of unity and volunteerism in sustaining meaningful community activities.

Both young participants and adults took pleasure in a range of enjoyable and interactive games, which were carefully assisted by Mark Ferido, treasurer of the Travelers Tribe Masonic Club Bahrain (T2).

Marlon Arlanza, Vice President of T2, who actively participated in the coordination of the activities also delivered a message of thanks and solidarity, acknowledging the collective efforts of the officers, partner organizations, and members in making the event successful.

He was joined by Rogin Follante, president of Tri Step Lodge No. 99 who likewise conveyed a message emphasizing unity, cooperation, and continued support among the organizations.

Also in attendance was Mitch de Guzman, President of T2, whose presence further strengthened the partnership and solidarity among the participating organizations.
