Prominent Bahrain Indian Community Leader Anand Lobo Passes Away at 63

Manama: Anand Lobo, a former president of the Indian Club, Bahrain, and a widely respected figure within the Kingdom’s Indian diaspora, passed away on Thursday, prompting an outpouring of grief across the community.
A pillar of Bahrain’s Indian expatriate community for more than three decades, Lobo was remembered for his vibrant personality, boundless energy, and lifelong dedication to community service. He played a significant role in strengthening cultural and social engagement among Indians living in the Kingdom.
Lobo served as president of the Indian Club, Bahrain, from 2013 to 2015, becoming the first Mangalorean to hold the prestigious position. During his tenure, he was instrumental in enhancing the club’s activities and advancing preparations for its centenary celebrations.
He also led the Karnataka Social Club, Bahrain, where he championed cultural, social, and community-oriented initiatives aimed at fostering unity among Kannadigas and the wider Indian diaspora.
Widely admired for his exceptional skills as a compere, Lobo was a familiar and much-loved presence at cultural programmes and social gatherings. Known for his elegant voice and spontaneous wit, he brought warmth and energy to countless community events across Bahrain.
Community leaders and members have paid tribute to Lobo as a committed social worker, capable administrator, and cultural icon whose contributions left an enduring mark on expatriate life in the Kingdom.
