Parliament will discuss proposals on urban services, public markets, and small-scale commercial activity during Tuesday’s session.
One proposal focuses on revitalising Manama Souq, aiming to improve facilities, organisation, and accessibility while preserving the market’s traditional character.
Another calls for the comprehensive redevelopment of Sitra Central Market, urging the government to upgrade the market to meet modern quality standards.
Lawmakers are also addressing issues related to vendors. Some proposals seek the removal of street vendors and food trucks in certain areas, while others call for pausing the relocation of vendors at Jidhafs Market until suitable alternative sites are found. Additionally, MPs have requested a review of decisions affecting food trucks on Independence Street and other locations.
The discussions reflect efforts to balance modernisation and regulation with support for small traders and the preservation of Bahrain’s historic market areas.
